Join us at Falmouth Book Festival Fringe
We're back for autumn - come Read Between the Wines with us on 19 October
Saturday 19 October, Espressini, Falmouth, 7pm
Tickets £15 includes three tasting wines
What better way to spend an October evening than drinking wine and chatting about short fiction? Read Between the Wines is back as part of Falmouth Book Festival Fringe. Come, join us!
As you’re on the mailing list, you know the drill – we pick a story, pair some wines with it then get together to talk about the flavour and character of both. What does the story say to you? How does that work with the wines we’ve picked? What did you like or dislike and why?
As always, we’re talking affable and quaffable not erudite and exclusive – it’s a fun, easy-going evening where all opinions and tastes are heard and welcome. The only proviso? It helps if you like books and wine!
Our short story for 19 October is 'Lone Cypress' by Philip Marsden, featured in Twelve Stories for Twelve Sections (Hermitage, 2024). It's a moving contemplation of growth, change, loss and legacy framed around a family farm and an outgrown cypress tree.
With much left unsaid and characters both present and beyond the page to unpick, it promises rich subject matter for discussion, and pairing too!
Ticket price includes tasting glasses of the three wines we’ll be sampling, a guided tasting, readings from the short story and plenty of lively discussion.
So what are you waiting for? Espressini has started serving small plates, perfect for a snack before, during or after...
See you there, yeah?
